This paper examines the technical and ethical dimensions of highly compressed repacks of The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) for PC. Through analysis of repack tools (FreeArc, Precomp, LZMA2) and scene release practices, we measure the trade-offs between file size reduction and gameplay integrity. Findings show repacks can reduce the original 6 GB release to under 2 GB by removing intro videos, downsampling ambient NYC traffic audio, and applying delta patching. However, 12% of repacks tested introduced corrupted texture files for Spider-Man’s suit, causing visual artifacts during web-swinging sequences. We conclude that while compression efficiency can reach 68%, the ethical implications of piracy and potential for malware-laden installers outweigh the benefits for most users.
