The rod and wheel electrodes require specific care. For the rod electrode, the two caps need to be unscrewed, washed, and the inner side of the tube carefully cleaned. The copper rod should be cleaned using emery cloth before the electrode is refilled with copper sulphate solution. Maintaining the wheel electrode involves removing the felt hoops, flushing them with water, and potentially using a citric acid solution for deeper cleaning before refilling with copper sulphate.
To ensure accuracy, the Profometer 4 should be checked regularly using the (supplied with the kit).
Check the probe, cable, and housing for visible damage.
