A common misconception is that flashing the CURE firmware alone will fix the device. It will not. The CURE firmware is a tool to enable access, not a permanent fix. The complete recovery process requires two flashes:
Hold the power button (or corner of the screen, depending on the model) before plugging in the USB cable, and continue holding it until the tool detects the device. garmincure3exe better
Midway through applying the cure, the original tool throws a "Transaction failed (Error code: -1)" . This usually indicates a bad USB cable, a dying battery, or—most critically—bad blocks on the internal memory. The original tool has no ability to map out bad blocks.
